Kindermusik - Starting July 20, 2010 - Summer Kindermusik Classes - Enroll Now

Gloria Hobi is a certified and licensed Kindermusik teacher. Kindermusik is a program designed for children from infancy to the age of seven. In June, Gloria will be teaching a class for parents of babies, ages 0-18 months, entitled "Busy Days" and a class for toddlers, ages 18 mos.-3 years, entitled "Zoo Train".

Busy Days - Tuesday, July 20th- Tuesday, August 17th, 10:00a.m .- 10:45a.m.

Set your baby's day to classical music. With a little more Tchaikovsky in your "Twinkle, Twinkle" repertoire, you'll discover new ways your baby benefits from the classics as you both develop an appreciation for the world's most respected music. Each lesson features new activities and songs you can sing for all the places you go together - the store, the playgound, the doctor, and more.

Busy Days Home Materials: Busy Day board book, Home CD, Village Cage bell instrument, and poster.

Zoo Train - Tuesday, July 20th- Tuesday, August 17th, 11:15-12:00a.m. and 6:30-7:15 p.m.

Toddlers and trains make a natual match - always on the move. Tag along this summer with a traveling zoo train. Bring your own stuffed animals for the petting zoo. Wear long white socks on your hands for polar bear paws and learn about real animals in the zoo. Sing songs for clapping time, and use music to help toddlers regulate emotions.

Zoo Train Home Materials: Zoo Train book, Home CD, animal shaker instrument, and poster.

Private Instruction

The Academy for Strings, Piano, and Woodwinds at Four Oaks offers private instruction in violin, viola, cello, and piano. Through our talented faculty, lessons in theory, recorder, flute, and bassoon are also available.

String Music Library

Four Oaks maintains a vast collection of scores and parts for small string ensemble to full string orchestra study and performance. Well over two hundred composers are represented in the collection, which includes music from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic Periods, along with a few more modern selections.

Ensemble Opportunities

Four Oaks offers a variety of string ensemble opportunities for the purpose of providing young string students from the Northeast Ohio Area a stimulating high quality musical experience in a string ensemble setting. We encourage all of our students to participate in the ensemble experience to help them become well rounded musicians. Ensemble opportunities are available for the very young beginner as well as the more advanced student.

The Preludio String Ensemble

Children learn from each other and are motivated by regular group lessons. The Preludio String Ensemble is comprised of students who are just beginning to bow Twinkle Variation rhythms to students who play up through the middle of Suzuki Volume I. Learning games are incorporated to reinforce violin playing technique and musicianship and ensemble playing skills.

The Intermezzo String Ensemble

The Intermezzo String Ensemble is a beginning level ensemble for violinists, violists, and cellists with no required prior ensemble experience. A repertoire built around the Suzuki Method and arrangements of popular classical and baroque pieces will be utilized to focus on note reading skills, along with basic ensemble playing skills. Requirements are that the child is able to read notes on all four strings, and play in the keys of A Major, D Major, and G major.

The Four Oaks Youth Ensemble

Playing chamber music is enjoyable and inspiring, and helps students improve their stringed instrument playing skills. The Four Oaks Youth Ensemble is designed for the intermediate-level string player to provide a stimulating, high quality ensemble experience. The ensemble offers young string players the opportunity to improve their technique, while developing their ensemble skills, in an enjoyable and supportive setting. The ensemble performs at Four Oaks recitals, community events, and nursing facilities. In 2007, they also performed at a fundraising event for the Rainbow Children's Hospital.
